Veteran actor Vic Perrin is best remembered for
having provided the "Control Voice" for the series.
The Biblical epic film The Robe was made by 20th Century Fox and is notable for
being the first film released in the widescreen process CinemaScope.
Lauren Bacall (born Betty Joan Perske in New York)
(September 16, 1924 – August 12, 2014)
Bacall received a Golden Globe Award, as well as an Academy
Award nomination, for her role in the 1996 film The Mirror Has
Two Faces. She married actor Humphrey Bogart in 1945.
The musical variety series "Shindig!" premiered on ABC-TV. The first
show, which was also the pilot, opened with Sam Cooke, The Everly
Brothers, The Wellingtons, The Righteous Brothers, Bobby Sherman
and Alan Sues. The show aired until January 8, 1966.
The show was hosted by Jimmy O’Neill,
a disc jockey in Los Angeles at the time.
