Ocean, taking off from New York’s Roosevelt Field and arriving in
Paris, France 33.5 hours later.

On May 20, 1932, Amelia Earhart took off from Newfoundland; she
landed in Ireland nearly 15 hours later, becoming the first woman
to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
