Tammy Wynette (Virginia Wynette Pugh)
(May 5, 1942 – April 6, 1998)


Tammy Waynette was one of country music’s best-
known artists and biggest-selling female singers
during the late 1960s and first half of the 1970s.

Wynette charted 20 number-one songs on the
Billboard Country Chart. She is credited with
having defined the role of women in country
music during the 1970s.

Tammy died on April 6, 1998, at the age of 55
while sleeping on her couch in her
Nashville,
Tennessee
, home. Her doctor from said she
died of a
blood clot in her lung.

(April 26, 1942 – April 5, 2022)

Singer and actor Bobby Rydell mainly performed rock
and roll
music In the early 1960s and is well-known for
his song
"
Wild One". He died from complications of
pneumonia.

OREGON ZOO RESIDENT LEAH DIES AT 47

Leah the chimpanzee (May 15, 1974 – April 4, 2022) 


Zoo officials said, in an announcement made Monday, the
chimpanzee died in her sleep Sunday night. 

She is survived by her big sister Delilah, who turns 49 next
month, 50-year-old male Jackson and 53-year-old troop leader
Chloe.

NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2023 ballots had four new names
added Those names are Matt Kenseth, Tim Brewer, Sam Ard, and
A.J. Foyt Nominees for the Landmark Award were also announced
Voting for the Class of 2023 begins May 4.

LEADER ASSASSINATED ON THIS DAY IN 1968

The assassination of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Just after 6 p.m. on April 4, 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. was fatally
shot while standing on the balcony outside his second-story room
at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis,
Tennessee. The civil rights leader
was in Memphis to support a sanitation workers’ strike and was on
his way to dinner when a bullet struck him in the jaw and severed
his spinal cord. King was pronounced dead after his arrival at a
Memphis hospital. He was only 39 years old.
