WORLD’S LARGEST MOTH HAS BEEN FOUND

BELLEVUE, Wash.(KOMO) — The largest moth in the world was
found over in Bellevue, state officials are now working to find
out if it was alone or if there are more living there.

An atlas moth was found in Bellevue was reported to the
Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) on
July 7. Entomologists were able to identify it as an atlas
moth and sent it to the USDA, which also confirmed it on
July 27.

It’s believed to be the first detection of the moth in the U.S.

ROBERT De NIRO IS HAVING A BIRTHDAY

Actor and producer Robert Anthony De Niro Jr. is particularly
known for
his nine collaborations with filmmaker Martin Scorsese,       
and is the recipient of various accolades, including two Academy      
Awards, a Golden Globe Award, the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and      
a Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award.       

In 2009, De Niro received the Kennedy Center Honor, and he also
received a
Presidential Medal of Freedom
from President Barack 
Obama in 2016. De Niro is 79 years old today.

LOCAL RADIO PERSONALITY IS IN HOSPICE

EUGENE, Ore. — Longtime KKNU (NEW COUNTRY 93.3), radio personality Bill Barrett has entered hospice care after a long
battle with cancer.

New Country’s Tim Fox tells us Barrett was diagnosed with a
recurrence of cancer back in April of this year.

Barrett had hosted the morning show on 93.3 for decades with
Fox and Tracy Berry (below) before he retired last year.


UPDATE: Barrett passed away Wednesday afternoon
                 August 17th.

BALLOON CROSSES THE ATLANTIC IN 1978

The Double Eagle II completed the first transatlantic balloon flight
when it landed in a barley field near Paris, 137 hours after lifting 
off rom Presque Isle,
Maine. The helium-filled balloon was piloted
by Ben Abruzzo, Maxie Anderson and Larry Newman and flew
3,233 miles in the six-day odyssey.
