         Harriet Beecher Stowe (Harriet Elisabeth Beecher) 

                            (June 14, 1811 – July 1, 1896)

Stowe was an American abolitionist and author. Her novel Uncle Tom’s
Cabin
(1852) was a depiction of life for African-Americans under slavery.

                          Artie Shaw (Arthur Jacob Arshawsky) 
                            (May 23, 1910 – December 30, 2004)

Shaw was a clarinetist, composer, and bandleader. He was also a author
who wrote both fiction and non-fiction short stories. Shaw had long been
suffering from diabetes.

Shaw led one of the most popular big bands in the late 1930s through
the early 1940s. Their signature song, a 1938 version of Cole Porter‘s
"Begin the Beguine", was a wildly successful single. He retired from the
music business in 1954.

Kenneth Nathaniel Taylor  (May 8, 1917 – June 10, 2005)

        

Taylor was a publisher and author, better known as the creator of 
the The Living Bible and the founder of Tyndale House, a Christian
publishing company and Living Bibles International. 

Taylor was born in Portland, Oregon. His parents were George
and Charlotte Huff Taylor. His father was a Presbyterian minister.
 
Kenneth graduated in 1934 from Beaverton High School in the
town of Beaverton, Oregon. He then enrolled at Wheaton College
in Illinois where he graduated in 1938. In 1940, Taylor began work
on a Th D. at Dallas Theological Seminary in Texas, finishing his
theological degree at Northern Baptist Seminary in Illinois.

Taylor finished the entire Bible in contemporary language and
published it as The Living Bible in 1971.
