The Chevrolet Motor Car Company was founded on November 3, 1911
by Louis Chevrolet, a race car driver and automotive engineer and
William C. Durant, the founder of General Motors who, after five
years, lost control of the company in 1910. The first Series C
Classic Six prototype Chevy was ready months before The
company was actually incorporated.
The first Chevrolet automobile produced in Detroit, 1912. The son of William
Durant, Cliff Durant, is behind the wheel.
TV SPECIAL AIRED ON THIS DAY IN 1957
The Edsel Show was a hour-long special broadcast live on the CBS network
on Sunday October 13, 1957. It was a promotion for Ford Motor Company’s
new car the Edsel. The special replaced The Ed Sullivan show for that one
evening only. Featured stars included Bing Crosby and Frank sinatra and
the appearance by a “mystery guest”…Bob Hope. The Edsel Show has
been credited as Bing Crosby’s real television breakthrough with many
future TV specials.
