Apollo 12 was the sixth manned flight in the Apollo program and the second to land
on the Moon. It was launched from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida. Mission commander Charles "Pete" Conrad and Lunar Module Pilot Alan L. Bean performed
just over one day and seven hours of lunar surface activity while Command Module
Pilot Richard F. Gordon remained in lunar orbit. The landing site for the mission was located in the southeastern portion of the Ocean of Storms.
William Penn Adair "Will" Rogers
(November 4, 1879 – August 15, 1935)
Rogers was a cowboy, vaudeville performer, humorist, social commentator
and motion picture actor. He was one of the world’s best-known celebrities
in the 1920s and 1930s, known as “Oklahoma’s favorite son”.
Mariner 10 was a robotic space probe launched by NASA to fly by the
planets Mercury and Venus. It was launched approximately two years
after Mariner 9 and was the last spacecraft in the Mariner program.
