OLIVIA de HAVILLAND IS 96 TODAY
Olivia Mary de Havilland was one of the foremost leading ladies of
Hollywood’s Golden Age. She began her career as a contract star for
Warner Bros. Pictures in 1935.
On November 17, 2008 Olivia de Havilland received the National
Medal for the Arts from President George W. Bush.
TONYA HARDING BANNED ON THIS DAY IN 1994

Figure Skater and Portland, Oregon native Tonya Harging became notorious
in conjunction with the January 6, 1991 attack on Nancy Kerrigan during a
practice session for the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Detroit.
Following an investigation, the USFSA stripped her of her 1994 U.S.
Championships title and banned her for life from participating in USFSA-
run events as either a skater or a coach.
KATHY BATES IS 64 TODAY
Kathy Bates rose to prominence with her performance in Misery
(1990), for which she won both the Academy Award for Best
Actress and a Golden Globe.
LEGENDARY SCREENWRITER IS DEAD AT 71
Nora Ephron (May 19, 1941 – June 26, 2012)
(Fox News)-Author, director and screenwriter Nora Ephron died today
in a New York hospital from complications from the blood disorder
myelodysplasia, with which she was diagnosed six years ago.
Nora Ephron is best remembered for her romantic comedies and was
a triple nominee for the Academy Award for Writing Original Screenplay
for three films: Slikwood (1983), When Harry Met Sally (1989), and
Sleepless in Seattle (1993). Her most recent film was Julie & Julia in
2009.
