   Thomas Edwin "Tom" Mix (January 6, 1880 – October 12, 1940)

Mix appeared in 291 films between 1909 and 1935, all but nine of which were
silent movies. He is credited as having helped define the genre for all cowboy
actors who followed.

The comic strip"The Katzenjammer Kids" (Hans and Fritz), created by Rudolph
Dirks and drawn by Harold H. Knerr first appeared in the American Humorist,
the Sunday supplement of the New York Journal.  

Dirks was the first cartoonist to express dialogue in comic characters through
the use of thought balloons.

The Katzenjammer Kids was later renamed “The Captain and the Kids’ because
of anti-German sentiment during World War l. It is still distributed by King Features, making it the oldest comic strip still in syndication and the longest-running ever.

Kaye Ballard is a musical theatre and television actress, comedienne,
and singer. She was born Catherine Gloria Balotta in Cleveland, Ohio.

Ballard was established as a musical comedienne in the 1940s when
she joined the Spike Jones touring revue of entertainers.
