FILM SERIES BEGAN ON THIS DAY IN 1962
Ian Fleming (28 May 1908 – 12 August 1964)
Dr. No is a 1962 spy film, starring Sean Connery; it is the first James Bond
film based on the 1958 Ian Fleming novel of the same name. It was adapted
by Richard Maibaum, Johanna Harwood, and Berkely Mather and directed
by Terence Young. The film was produced by Harry Saltzman and Albert R. Broccoli, a partnership that would continue until 1975. The series has
grossed just over $5 billion to date, making it the second-highest-
grossing film series of all-time, behind Harry Potter.

WILLIAM CONRAD WAS BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1920
William Conrad (John William Cann Jr.)
(September 27, 1920 – February 11, 1994)
Conrad’s career spanned five decades in radio, film. and television as
a writer, actor, producer and director. He created the role of Marshall
Matt Dillon for the popular CBS radio series Gunsmoke (1952-1961)
and narrated the TV adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle (1959-1964)
and The Fugitive (1963-1967).
Conrad found stardom as a detective in the CBS- TV series Cannon
(1971-1976), and in the crime drama Jake and the Fatman on CBS
from 1987 to 1992.
