Sly and the Family Stone
Sly Stone (Sylvester Stewart) (March 15, 1943 – June 9, 2025)
Stone, was a musician, songwriter, and record producer who
was most famous for his role as frontman for Sly and the
Family Stone.
Sly Stone died in Los Angeles on June 9 surrounded by family
and friends. The family said in a statement provided to Rolling
Stone Magazine that he had died of COPD and "other underlying
health issues." He was 82.

Les Paul (June 9, 1915 – August 12, 2009)
Les Paul, was a jazz, country, and blues guitarist, songwriter,
and inventor. He was one of the pioneers of the solid-body
electric guitar, and his prototype, called the Log, served as
inspiration for the Gibson Les Paul.
Paul is credited with many recording innovations. His early
experiments with overdubbing (also known as sound on
sound), delay effects such as tape delay, phasing, and
multitrack recording.
CAMILLE BOHANNON
On June 5, 2004, Ronald Wilson Reagan, the 40th president of
the United States, died after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s
disease. Reagan, who was also a well-known actor and served
as governor of California, was a popular president known for
restoring American confidence after the problems of the 1970s.
Robert Francis Kennedy (November 20, 1925 – June 6, 1968)
Shortly after midnight on June 5, 1968, Senator Robert Kennedy
was shot at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles after winning
the California presidential primary.
Immediately after he announced to his cheering supporters that
the country was ready to end its fractious divisions, Kennedy
was shot several times by 24-year-old Palestinian Sirhan Sirhan.
He was pronounced dead a day later, on June 6, 1968.
Sirhan, who was born in Palestine, confessed to the crime
at his trial and received a death sentence on March 3, 1969.
Since the California State Supreme Court invalidated all
death penalty sentences in 1972, Sirhan has spent the
rest of his life in prison.
Hubert Humphrey ended up running for the Democrats in
1968, but lost to Nixon.
