harrytrumandoctrine

The Truman Doctrine was a policy set forth by President Harry S. Truman
in a speech delivered on March 12, 1947 stating that the U.S. would support
Greece and Turkey with financial and military air to prevent their falling to
communism, which would have had grave consequences thought the region.

The policy won the support of Republicans who controlled Congress and
involved sending $400 million, but no military forces, to the region

back to the future 3

(Fox News) A few months ago Nike announced that it would be selling replicas of the futuristic ‘Nike Mag’ shoes from the second movie, and just a few days later news surfaced that one of the original DMC-12 time machine prop cars used in the actual movies was up for sale. There were seven examples originally built, all with their
various modifications made by “Doc”, but of these only three are thought to remain
in existence, according to auctioneer Profiles In History.

One of those surviving cars was auctioned off to the public this month, with part of the proceeds going to support The Michael J. Fox Foundation, the world’s largest private funder of Parkinson’s research. Hemmings reports that it reached a staggering
$541,200 at the close of bidding.

The particular car was used mostly in the third movie, where it had most of the suspension replaced, a full roll-cage and Volkswagen V-6 engine also installed. It’s
been in private hands for the past eight years, with its owner restoring it to its current state.
