Gutenberg_Bible,_Lenox_Copy

Copy of the Gutenberg Bible on display in the New York Public Library. It
was purchased in 1847 and is the first copy of the book brought to the U.S.

The Gutenberg Bible (also known as the 42-line Bible, the Mazarin Bible or the B42)
was the first major book printed with movable type and the first major book produced
on a printing press anywhere in the world.

The most reliable source of information concerning the Bible’s date comes from a
letter, in March 1455, future Pope Pius ll wrote about having seen the promotional
edition of the Bible on display in Frankfurt.

After operatic vocal training, Margaret Truman, the only child of President Harry S.
Truman, began a singing career with a debut radio recital on ABC. Reviewers were
not always kind, such as Washington Post music critic Paul Hume who wrote that
Truman was “extremely attractive on stage…(but) cannot sing very well.” She
continued to performed on stage, radio, and television until the mid-1950s.
