Ron Desantis is a Republican politician who became the United
States Representative for Florida’s 6th congressional district in
2013. He has served under the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on the Judiciary, and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. In 2019, he became Florida’s 46th governor.

He was captain of the varsity baseball team in his senior year at 
Yale University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a B.A.
in History in 2001.

In 2007 he was assigned to SEAL Team One and deployed to Iraq
with the troop surge as the Legal Advisor to the SEAL Commander, Special Operations Task Force-West in Fallujah, and was later
awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal for
his service.

The 1994–95 Major League Baseball strike was the eighth and
longest work stoppage in baseball history, as well as the fourth
in-season work stoppage in 22 years. The strike began on
August 12, 1994, and resulted in the remainder of that season,
including the postseason and the World Series, being canceled.

This was the first time in ninety years, since 1904, that a World
Series was not played. The strike was suspended on April 2,
1995, after 232 days, making it the longest such stoppage in
MLB history and the longest work stoppage in major league.

Portland, Oregon Mayor Ted Wheeler says he will not seek
re-election in 2024.

Wheeler was elected in the 2016 Portland mayoral election
and reelected in 2020. Formerly a registered Republican;
he has been described as a moderate Democrat.

A sixth-generation Oregonian, Wheeler was born in Portland
to a family with roots and wealth in the Oregon timber industry.

Robert Stack

The Untouchables was a crime-drama that ran from 1959 to 1963, on
ABC and produced by Desilu Productions, with Special Agent Eliot
Ness played by Robert Stack. 

Stack won the 1960 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding
Performance by an Actor in a Series.
