I Love Lucy is a sitcom that originally aired on CBS-TV from October
15, 1951, to May 6, 1957,





African American civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,
was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his nonviolent resistance
to racial prejudice in America. At 35 years of age, the Georgia-
born minister was the youngest person ever to receive the award.


1964

George Washington (left) lays the cornerstone of the White House.
The cornerstone was laid for a presidential residence in the newly
designated capital city of Washington, D.C. In 1800, President
John Adams became the first president to reside in the executive
mansion, which soon became known as the “White House” because
its white-gray Virginia freestone contrasted strikingly with the red
brick of nearby buildings.

October 12th, 1962 saw landfall of Tropical Storm Freda on
to the Pacific Coast. The center of what was to become known
as the Columbus Day Storm paralleled the Northern California,
Oregon and Washington Coast a mere 50 miles away from
shore before it dissipated over Vancouver Island on October
17th, 1962.
