The Phoenix Suns announced today, Paul Westphal, a revered Hall
of Fame guard and former NBA champion, has died.
He had been
reportedly diagnosed with brain cancer last summer.

Phyllis Jean McGuire was born on February 14, 1931 in Middletown, Ohio.

Phyllis McGuire, the last surviving member of the 1950s singing
group
The McGuire Sisters, has died at age 89. A cause of death
was not provided. The singer, who led the trio, died in
Las Vegas
on Tuesday, December 29th.

(Fox News) – Dawn Wells, who famously played Mary Ann Summers,
on “Gilligan’s Island” has died. Her publicist said the actress died
in Los Angeles of COVID-19 related causes Wednesday morning.

 

Wells starred as the unapologetic “good girl” who was stranded
on an island with six other castaways. Gilligan’s Island ran from
1964 to 1967 on CBS – for three seasons – and yet it has never
gone off the air. It continues to be screened across the world in
over 30 languages.

CRASH LANDING MADE ON THIS DAY IN 1978

Disastrous Distraction

United Flight 173 was a scheduled flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City to Portland International
Airport in Oregon. The jet ran out of fuel while troubleshooting
a landing gear problem and crashed in a suburban neighborhood
east of the city at 157th and Burnside. Ten passengers were killed
and 175 survived.
