TRAIN COLLISION ON THIS DAY IN 1962



Two commuter trains and a freight train collide near Tokyo, Japan,
killing more than 160 people and injuring twice that number.
  

The subsequent investigation into the accident resulted in the
indictment of nine of the freight train’s crew members for criminal negligence.

Harry Lillis "Bing" Crosby (May 3, 1903 – October 14, 1977)
Born in Tacoma, Washington. 

Singer and actor.Bing Crosby was a leader in record sales, radio ratings,
and motion picture grosses from 1931 to 1954. In 1948, American polls
declared him the "most admired man alive", ahead of
Jackie Robinson 
and
Pope Pius XII. Also in 1948, Music Digest estimated that his records
filled more than half of the 80,000 weekly hours allocated to recorded
radio music. Bing Crosby won an
Academy Award for Best Actor for his
role as Father Chuck O’Malley in the 1944 motion picture Going My Way.

“STAR WARS’’ CHARACTER HAS DIED AT 74

Peter William Mayhew
(May 19, 1944 – April 30, 2019)

(Washington (SBG) -  Peter Mayhew, the actor best known for playing the
character Chewbacca in the
"Star Wars" movie series (above), died on
Tuesday
in his North Texas home. The cause of the English actors death
is unclear at this time.
