MAGAZINE PIONEER HAS DIED AT 74
UNION, Maine (AP) — Judith Glassman, first woman to serve as the
top editor of Life magazine has died at her home in Maine.
Daniels blazed a trail for women in the publishing world. She served
in senior editing positions at The Village Voice, New York magazine,
Time Inc. and Conde Nast over a career that spanned 35 years in
New York. Her husband, Lee Webb, says she died from stomach
cancer on Sunday, September 1st.
Her family is planning an October memorial service.

"Oh, Pretty Woman" was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee spent three
weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. 1999, it was honored with
a Grammy Hall of Fame Award and was named one of the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. In 2004, Rolling
Stone magazine ranked it #222 on their list of the “500 Greatest Songs
of All Time.”

The Life magazine article reported that The Beatles’ 33-day tour of 23 American
cities was a sell out at every location and was expected to gross millions.
