Howard Robard Hughes Jr.
(December 24, 1905 – April 5, 1976)
Aviation millionaire Howard Hughes became a
movie producer and Las Vegas recluse. He was
one of the wealthiest people of his time.
SALES OF NEW CAR BEGAN ON THIS DAY IN 1927
The Ford Model A was the second huge success for the Ford Motor Company,
after its predecessor, the Model T. It was first produced on October 20, 1927,
but didn’t go on sale until December 2. This new Model A was available in four
standard colors. By February 4, 1929, one million Model As had been sold,
and by July 24, two million.

CONFECTIONER BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1857
Milton Snavely Hershey (September 13, 1857 – October 13, 1945)
Businessman and philanthropist Milton S. Hershey founded the Hershey
Chocolate Company in 1905. In his early years he helped out on the family
farm. When Milton was in his 20s, he would accompany his father on business
trips. Hershey supplied chocolates for the U.S. troops during WWII. Rather
than Hershey’s Bars, they were called Ration-D Bars.
