Daryl Frank Dragon is a keyboardist, known on stage as Captain in the
successful 1970s’ pop musical duo Captain & Tennille, with his wife, Toni
Tennille. Toni announced in late 2009 that Daryl had developed a mild
from of non terminal Parkinson’s disease. She made another statement
in September 2010 saying that Daryl’s condition is a neurological one,
not Parkinson’s but similar, that causes him to have tremors.This
condition to be debilitating to Daryl’s ability to perform as a musician.

THE CAPTAIN IS 69 YEARS OLD TODAY
DEATH OF A STAR ON THIS DAY IN 1962
Sometime during the night of August 4-5, 1962, Marilyn Monroe died. Her
body was discovered in the bedroom of her Brentwood home by Ralph S.
Greenson, Marilyn’s psychoanalyst. Cause of death was ruled "probable
suicide" by an overdose of sleeping pills. Monroe was 36 at the time. Her
funeral took place on August 8, at the Westwood memorial Park Chapel in
Westwood, California. There are many who believe that she was murdered,
but no murder charges were ever filed. The death of Marilyn Monroe has
since become one of the most debated conspiracy theories of all time.
‘’GREASE’’ ACTRESS IS DEAD AT 63
(Fox news) LOS ANGELES – TMZ has reported today that "Grease" actress
Annette Charles, who played Cha Cha in the iconic film, has died in Los Angeles.
Charles passed away Wednesday night at age 63 from complications from cancer.
She had acted in several minor TV roles before she played Charlene "Cha-Cha" DiGregorio, the girlfriend of the leader of the Scorpions gang, in the 1978 movie.
JERRY LEWIS IS NO LONGER WITH MDA!
(AP) -Comedian Jerry Lewis is no longer serving as the Muscular Dystrophy
Association’s national chairman and won’t be appearing on this year’s Labor Day
telethon, according to an announcement made Wednesday night by the nonprofit
agency.
Lewis, 85, has been the MDA’s national chairman since the early 1950s and has
hosted the Labor Day Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon since 1966.
He announced in May that he was retiring as host of the telethon that has become synonymous with his name. But Lewis added that he planned to make his final appearance on this year’s Sept. 4, show and planned on continuing to serve as
MDA’s national chairman.
MDA Chairman of the Board R. Rodney Howell said in a statement that Lewis
"will not be appearing on the telethon" and "we will not be replacing him as MDA
national chairman." The statement did not provide any further explanation for
the moves.
Lewis has in recent years battled a debilitating back condition, heart issues
and the crippling lung disease pulmonary fibrosis.
FOUNDING MEMBER OF BAND IS DEAD AT 60
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Dan Peek, a founding member of the popular 1970s band
America and singer of high harmonies on hits that included “A Horse With No
Name” and “Ventura Highway,” has died, his father Milton said Tuesday. He
was 60.
Peek’s wife, Catherine, found him dead Sunday in bed in his home in Farmington,
Mo., about 60 miles southwest of St. Louis. The cause of death was not known,
and an autopsy was planned.
