Rita Hayworth (Margarita Carmen Cansino)
(October 17, 1918 – May 14, 1987)
Glamorous actress Rita Hayworth was featured in over 60 films throughout her
37-year career. She performed publicly as a dancer at the age of six.
When the Depression wiped out her family’s savings, she and her father went
to Tijuana, Mexico to perform in clubs because she was too young to perform
in Hollywood. Hayworth was the top pin-up girl for GIs during World War II.
Rita Hayworth was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 1980, which is said
to have contributed to her death at age 68.

The Phil Silvers Show, originally titled You’ll Never Get Rich, is a sitcom
which ran on CBS-TV from 1955 to 1959. A total of 143 episodes were
broadcast – all half-an-hour long except for a 1959 one-hour live special.
The series starred Phil Silvers as Master Sergeant Ernest G. Bilko of the
United States Army.

Madonna Louise Ciccone is 58 years young today.
Madonna grew up in an Italian-American household and was a straight A
student, as well as a cheerleader, in high school. After earning a degree
from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance, she
moved to New York City to pursue dance. She received a Golden Globe
Award for Best Actress for her role as Eva Peron in the 1997 film Evita.
