Margaret Ruth "Margot" Kidder

Kidder appeared in a wide range of films during the 1970s and 1980s, but is
best known for her role as Lois Lane in four Superman movies which began 
in 1978.

The film Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is a political comedy-drama, starring
Jean Arthur and James Stewart. It was directed by Frank Capra and written
by Sidney Buchman, based on Lewis R. Foster‘s unpublished story. The
movie was controversial when it was released, but was successful at
the box office, and made Stewart a major movie star. Mr. Smith Goes to
Washington was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, winning for Best
Original Story.

Actress Ava Gardner and jazz musician and bandleader Artie Shaw were
married for a brief time until their divorce October 25, 1946. It was Ava’s
second marriage and the fifth for Shaw.

  Edward Matthew "Ed" Lauter II (October 30, 1938 – October 16, 2013)

(The Hollywood Reporter) – Ed Lauter, the always working character actor
who played the butler/chauffeur of Berenice Bejo’s character Peppy in the
best-picture Oscar winner The Artist, died Wednesday.

According to his publicist, Edward Lozzi, Lauter discovered in May that he
had contracted mesothelioma, a terminal form of cancer most commonly
caused by exposure to asbestos.

Lauter recently played a baseball scout opposite Clint Eastwood in Trouble
With the Curve (2012).
