CROONER TONY MARTIN IS DEAD AT 98

                Tony Martin
(December 25, 1913 – July 27, 2012)

(AP) -Tony Martin, the romantic singer who appeared in movie musicals from
the 1930s to the 1950s and sustained a career in records, television and
nightclubs from the Depression era into the 21st century, has died.

Martin died of natural causes Friday evening at his West Los Angeles home,
his friend and accountant Beverly Scott said Monday.

first talking picture, "White Shadows on the South Seas."
 The film
was directed W.S. Van Dyke and starred Monte Blue. It won an
Oscar in 1928-29 for Best Cinematography.
