Actor Robert John Downey, Jr. made his screen debut in 1970, at the age
of five when he appeared in his father’s film Pound. In 1992 Downey was
cast as Charlie Chaplin in Chaplin, for which he received an Academy Award
nomination for Best Actor. In 2007, Downey was cast as the Iron Man. The
film was a huge success; the opening weekend for Iron Man is still in the top
20 openings of all time. In 2008, Downey portrayed an Australian method
actor playing an African-American soldier in Tropic Thunder. He received
his second Oscar nomination for the film, in the category of Best Supporting
Actor. In 2009, Downey starred as the lead character in Sherlock Holmes. He
won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture-
Musical or Comedy for his role as the famous detective.

her retirement from show business in 1987. Her entertainment career began  
in the 1940s as a big band singer. In 1945 she had her first hit recording,
"Sentimental Journey". In 1948, she appeared in her first film, Romance on the
High Seas
. During her entertainment career, she appeared in 39 films, recorded
more than 650 songs, received an Academy Award nomination, won a Golden
Globe and a Grammy Award, and, in 1989, received the Cecil B. DeMille Award
for lifetime achievement in motion pictures.
