OREGON ZOO ELEPHANT IS 54 TODAY!

Packy was born April 14, 1962. He’s an Asian elephant at the Oregon Zoo, Portland Zoological Gardens at the time, in Portland, Oregon. Packy is famous for having
been the first elephant born in the Western Hemisphere in 44 years. Currently, he
is the oldest male Asian elephant in North America.

Darlene Faye Gillespie was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. 

Darlene Gillespie is a former child actress, most remembered as a singer
and dancer on the original The Mickey Mouse Club television series from

their cover of “Louie Louie” at Northwestern, Inc., Motion Pictures and
Recording in Portland. The session cost $50 and was done in one take.
