John Joseph "Jack" Nicholson is 81 years old today.

Actor Jack Nicholson is known for playing dark, psychopathic characters
such as Jack Torrance in The Shining (1977) and Frank Costello in The
Departed (2008). He won Academy Awards for Best Actor for his roles in 
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975) and As Good As it Gets (1997) 
and for Best Supporting Actor in Terms of Endearment (1983). He also
received praise for his roles in Chinatown (1974) and About Schmidt 
(2002) and for portraying the Joker in 1989’s Batman. 

Barbara Bush (Pierce) (June 8, 1925 – April 17, 2018)

Barbara Bush was the wife of George H. W. Bush, the 41st President of the United
States, and served as the First Lady of the United States from 1989 to 1993. She
served as the Second Lady of the United States from 1981 to 1989. She was the
mother of George W. Bush, the 43rd President, and Jeb Bush, the 43rd Governor
of Florida. On April 15, 2018, it was announced that Bush would no longer seek
medical treatment and had instead chosen the option of "comfort care". Bush died
in her Houston home today.

North Atlantic after hitting an iceberg the evening
before. 1,517 people died and more than 700 people
survived.

On this day in 1865, President Abraham Lincoln died
from injuries inflicted by John Wilkes Booth.

Jackie Robinson played his first major league baseball
game for the Brooklyn Dodgers on this day in 1947. He
previously he had only appeared in exhibition games.

U.S. F-111 warplanes attacked Libya on this day in 1986
in response to the bombing of a discotheque in Berlin on
April 5, 1986.

Pol Pot died at the age of 73 on this day in 1998. The leader
of the Khmer Rouge regime thereby evaded prosecution for

next morning.

Butcher Hollow, Kentucky.

Country music singer-songwriter Loretta Lynn has had multiple gold
albums in a career spanning almost 60 years. She is famous for hits s
uch as "You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man)", "Don’t Come
Home A’ Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind)", "One’s on the Way",
"Fist City", and "Coal Miner’s Daughter".

prevented the planned moon landing.

Rome. It the Pope’s first visit to a Synagogue on this day in 1986.

Sidney Poitier became the first black to win an Oscar for best actor
on this day in 1964. It was for his role in the film"Lilies of the Field”.

Tiger Woods became the youngest person to win the Masters Tournament at the age of 21 on this day in 1997. He also set a
record when he finished at 18 under par.
