RADIO SHOW DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1945

Art Linkletter

House Party premiered on CBS Radio January 15, 1945, and ran
weekdays at 4 p.m., three days a week, through January 10, 1947. On 
December 31, 1948 the show switched to ABC Radio where it ran till
December 30, 1949. It returned to CBS Radio days later, making it’s
longest continued run from January 2, 1950 to October 13, 1967. The
audience participation show was hosted Art Linkletter. The Sponsors
included General Electric, Pillsbury, and Lever Brothers.

MYSTRY SERIES DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1941

 Inner-Sanctum-  

Inner Sanctum Mystery, a popular horror anthology series that
aired from January 7, 1941 to October 5, 1952. It was based on
the mystery novels of Simon and Schuster. A total of 526 episodes
were broadcast. Boris Karloff, who was heard regularly during the
first season, starring in more than 15 episodes and returned often
thereafter.The show moved to CBS in the fall of 1943.

“The Singing Cowboy” Gene Autry was heard each Sunday evening on
radios across America over the CBS network. His Melody Ranch radio
show aired for an unprecedented 16 years between January 7, 1940
until May 1956. The show featured songs, comedy, and action filled
drama. The sponsor for the programs entire run was cool, refreshing
Doublemint Gum.

   Thomas Edwin "Tom" Mix (January 6, 1880 – October 12, 1940)

Mix appeared in 291 films between 1909 and 1935, all but nine of which were
silent movies. He is credited as having helped define the genre for all cowboy
actors who followed.
