RECORDED ON THIS DAY IN 1956

Decca Records offered Brenda Lee a contract, and her
first record was "Jambalaya", backed with "Bigelow 6‑200".

Lee’s second single featured two novelty Christmas tunes:
"I’m Gonna Lasso Santa Claus", and "Christy Christmas".

Though she turned 12 on December 11, 1956, both of the
first two Decca singles credit her as "Little Brenda Lee
(9 Years Old)."


Branda Lee (Brenda Mae Tarpley) will be 72 in December.

RECORD RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1968

The song "Magic Bus" was written by Pete Townshend during the time that
My Generation was being recorded in 1965. It has become one of the band’s
most popular songs and has been a concert staple, although when released,
the record only reached number 25 in the U.S.

Mick Jagger met future Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards
in primary school. He initially intended on going into politics or
economics. Mick Jagger has appeared on the cover of Rolling
Stone magazine over twenty times since 1968. In 2003, he was
knighted.

TV ACTRESS LYNDA CARTER IS 65 TODAY


Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman.


Lynda Carter (Linda Jean Córdova Carter) was born in Phoenix, AZ. 

Linda Carter played Wonder Woman, TV’s first female superhero, from 1975
to 1979 (ABC/CBS). She entered a local beauty contest and soon became Miss
World USA in 1972. Lynda tried out for the role of Captain Kathryn Janeway on 
the UPN-TV series Star Trek: Voyager.

The song "Cold as Ice" by British-American rock band Foreigner became
one of the best known songs of the band in the U.S., peaking at number
6 in the Billboard Hot 100. It was initially the B-side of some versions of the
"Feels Like the First Time" 45 rpm single.
