LAUNCHED ON THIS DAY IN 1972


The Apollo 16 crew: Thomas K. Mattingly II, command module pilot;
John W. Young, commander; and Charles M. Duke Jr., lunar module
pilot.

Apollo 16 was the tenth manned mission in the United States Apollo space program,
the fifth and next to the last to land on the Moon and the first to land in the lunar highlands. The second of the so-called "J missions," was launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 12:54 PM EST. The mission lasted 11 days, 1 hour, and
51 minutes, and concluded at 2:45 PM EST on April 27, 1972.

VOICE ACTOR HAS DIED AT 93


Arthur John Miles Anderson (August 29, 1922 – April 9, 2016)

Beginning in 1963, actor of radio,films, TV and stage, Arthur 
Anderson was the voice of the General Mills Lucky Charms
mascot “Lucky the Leprechaun
”, continuing the character for
29 years. Anderson died Saturday in Manhattan.

CLIFF BARROWS IS 93 TODAY!


Pictured in this 1949 photo is from left to right, Cliff Barrows,
Billy Graham and George Beverly Shea.

Clifford Burton Barrows is the longtime music and program director for the
Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. He has been a part of the Graham
organization since 1949. Barrows is best known as the host of Graham’s
weekly Hour of Decision radio program, and the song leader and choir
director for the crusade meetings. Barrows, who was ordained as a
Baptist minister in 1944, was born in Ceres, California.


“The Christian faith is a singing faith, and a good way to
express it and share it with others is in community singing.”

JAMES NOBLE HAS DIED AT 94


James Wilkes Noble (March 5, 1922 – March 28, 2016) 

Actor James Noble, best known for his portrayal of the sweet-
natured but naive Governor on ABC’s 1980s sitcom Benson
died on Monday in Connecticut. A spokesman for Noble’s
family said that the actor had suffered a stroke the week
prior to his death.
