Roger Earl Mosley 
(December 18, 1938 – August 7, 2022)

Mosley was an American actor, director, and writer
best known for his role as the helicopter pilot
Theodore "T.C." Calvin in the CBS television
series Magnum, P.I., which originally aired from
1980 until 1988.

Mosley reportedly died at Cedars-Sinai Medical
Center in Los Angeles, California, following injuries
sustained from a car collision on August 4.

NEW YORK (AP) — Marcus Eliason, an international journalist
whose insightful reporting, sparkling prose and skillful editing
graced Associated Press news wires for almost a half-century,
has died. He was 75.

He had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, developed
pneumonia earlier this week at a nursing home, and died on
Friday in a New York hospital.

From the Atlantic Missile Range in Cape Canaveral, Florida,
the U.S. unmanned spacecraft Explorer 6 was launched into
an orbit around the earth. The spacecraft, commonly known
as the “Paddlewheel” satellite, featured a photocell scanner
that transmitted a crude picture of the earth’s surface and
cloud cover from a distance of 17,000 miles. The photo,
received in Hawaii, took nearly 40 minutes to transmit.

Released by NASA in September, the first photograph ever
taken of the earth by a U.S. satellite (below) depicted a
crescent shape of part of the planet in sunlight. It was
Mexico, captured by Explorer 6 as it raced westward over
the earth at speeds in excess of 20,000 miles an hour.

Clu Gulager (William Martin Gulager)
(November 16, 1928 – August 5, 2022) 

Gulager first became known for his work in television, appearing
in the co-starring role of William H. Bonney (Billy the Kid) in the
1960–1962 NBC television series The Tall Man and as Emmett
Ryker in another NBC Western series, The Virginian.

His first major film role was in Don Siegel‘s The Killers (1964)
with Lee Marvin and Ronald Reagan in his only movie role as
a villain.

Gulager died Friday of natural causes at the Los Angeles home
of his son John and daughter-in-law Diane.
