SINGER ERIC BURDON IS 70 TODAY
Eric Victor Burdon is best known as a founding member and vocalist of The
Animals , a rock band formed in Newcastle, England, and the funk rock band
War. He was ranked 57th in Rolling Stone’s list – The 100 Greatest Singers of
All Time.
PHIL SILVERS (MAY 11, 1911 – NOV. 1, 1985)
Phil Silvers was a comedy actor knows as “The king of Chutzpah”. He is best
remembered for starring in The Phil Silvers Show, a CBS-TV sitcom that ran
from 1955 to 1959. The show was set on a U.S. Army post where Silvers
played Sergeant Bilko.
FRED ASTAIRE (MAY 10, 1899 – JUNE 22, 1987)
Fred Astaire was a film and Broadway stage dancer, choreographer, singer
and actor. His career spanned a total of 76 years. He made 31 musical films,
ten with Ginger Rogers. He was named the fifth Greatest Male Star of All Time
by the American Film Institute.
