LATE-NIGHT SHOW DEBUTED ON THIS DATE IN 1954

The Tonight Show
is a late-night talk show that has aired on NBC-TV since
Monday September 27, 1954. It is the longest currently running regularly
scheduled entertainment  program, and the third longest-running show on
NBC, after Meet the Press and Today. The shows first host was Steve Allen
till 1957. Fellow radio personality Gene Rayburn (below) was the original
announcer for the show.

Shaun Paul Cassidy is a actor, singer, writer and producer. He is the eldest
son of Academy Award winning actress Shirley Jones, and the second son
(his older half-brother is David Cassidy) of Tony award-winning actor Jack
Cassidy. Shaun is known for his role in the ABC- TV series The Hardy Boys-
Nancy Drew Mysteries
from 1977 to 1979. While still in high school, Cassidy
signed a contract with Warner Bros. Records and began recording music. A
series of singles were released, leading to a debut album in 1977. The album
netted Cassidy a Grammy nomination (for Best New Artist) and a number one
single, "Da Doo Ron Ron”. Cassidy concentrated on stage acting for most of
the 1980s and early 1990s.

Julie London was a singer and actress, whose acting career lasted more
than 35 years. It concluded with the female lead role of nurse Dixie McCall
on the NBC television series Emergency (1972-1979). The show co-starred
her real-life husband Bobby Troup, and was produced by her ex-husband
Jack Webb.

LARGE TV FAMILY DEBUTED ON THIS DATE IN 1969

The Brady Bunch
originally aired from Friday September 26, 1969 and ran till
March 8, 1974, on ABC-TV. In a 2010 issue of TV Guide, the sitcoms opening
opening title sequence ranked #8 on a list of TV’s top 10 credits sequences,
as selected by readers.
