SOUTH POLE REACHED ON THIS DAY IN 1911

Roald Amundsen was a Norwegian explorer who led the first Antarctic
expedition to the South Pole, reaching it on December 14, 1911. He
originally set out for the South Pole on September 8, 1911, but had to
abandoned the journey due to extreme temperatures.

Nostradamus was a French apothecary, astrologer, and foreteller who was one
of the world’s most famous authors of prophecies. His published collection of
prophecies (The Prophecies, 1555) has rarely been out of print since his death.
