A TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE ON THIS DAY IN 1970
The total solar eclipse of 1970 was visible across southern Mexico and the southeast coast of the United States and Canada. The greatest eclipse occurred over Mexico
and lasted up to 3 minutes and 28 seconds. There will not be a longer total eclipse
over the contiguous united States until April 8, 2024. The event was televised to
a national audience for the very first time in history.

FIRST DAYTIME RADIO SOAP ON THIS DAY IN 1933
Marie, The Little French Princess, on CBS radio was the first daytime soap
opera. The serial was produced and directed by Himan Brown, one of the
most respected figures in radio history. He was inducted into the Radio
Hall of Fame in 1990.
