"(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay" is a song co-written by soul singer Otis
Redding and and guitarist Steve Cropper. It was recorded by Redding in
1967, just days before his death in a plane crash near Madison, Wisconsin
on December 10. The record was released on February 23, 1968 and
became the first posthumous number-one single in US music chart history.
