RENOWNED AVIATOR DIED ON THIS DAY IN 1976
Howard Robard Hughes, Jr. (December 24, 1905– April 5, 1976)
Howard Hughes was one of the wealthiest people in the world as well
as one of the most influential and well respected aviators in history,
setting multiple world air-speed records. He received a special
Congressional Gold Medal in 1939 for recognition of his many
achievements in advancing the science of aviation.

AN OLD SOLDIER DIED ON THIS DAY IN 1964
General of the Army Douglas MacArthur (26 January 1880 – 5 April 1964)
Douglas MacArthur was a general and field marshal of the Philippine army and
was also Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army during the 1930s. He played a prominent
role in the Pacific Theater during World War ll. MacArthur was one of only five
men ever to be promoted to the rank of General of the Army. He received the
Medal of Honor for his service in the Philippines Campaign.

Spencer Bonaventure Tracy (April 5, 1900 – June 10, 1967)
Spencer Tracy was one of the major stars of Hollywood’s Golden Age with
a career spanning 37 years. He was nominated for nine Academy Awards
for Best Actor, a record he shares with Laurence Olivier, of which he won
two.
