Joe Dee & The Starliters were the house band for the Peppermint Lounge in New
York City for more than a year. Dee wrote "Peppermint Twist," along with producer
Henry Glover, as a tribute to the lounge and the song scored #1 on the charts
during early 1962. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc.

MEMORIES FROM JOE DEE & THE STARLITERS
OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW!
(Fox News) – Microsoft on Thursday announced what it called the first update
to the company’s logo in 25 years, a revamp that takes the familiar colored
banner and turns it into … well, more of a window. Rather than a colored
banner, the new logo is a colored square composed of four evenly sized
squares and a tweaked typeface.
It’s one of many changes the company is making in anticipation of the
Windows 8 launch later this year, said Jeff Meisner, a spokesperson
for Microsoft.
BARBARA EDEN IS ONLY 78 TODAY!
JOHN’S FIRST MARRIAGE ON THIS DAY IN 1962
John Lennon and his wife Cynthia
John Lennon married his pregnant girlfriend, Cynthia Powell at the Mount
Pleasant Registry Office in Liverpool. Paul and George were the only others
in attendance. The couple tried to keep the marriage quiet, but they were
spotted coming out of the registry office. John and Cynthia divorced in
November of 1968.
