"Get Down Tonight" by KC & The Sunshine Band was widely successful,
becoming the first of their five number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100
chart. It also reached the top of the Hot Soul Singles chart and was an
international chart hit.

Due to the discovered effects of lead poisoning by the Consumer
Product Safety Commission, laws banning the use of lead house paint
were not passed until 1971, when a phase out began. The Chemical’s
use was not fully banned until 1978.

BATTING DEBUT ON THIS DAY IN 1905

Ty Cobb, nicknamed “The Georgia Peach”, spent 22 seasons with the
Detroit Tigers, the last six as the team’s player-manager and finished
his career with the Philadelphia Athletics. He received the most votes
of any player on the inaugural Baseball Hall of Fame ballot, 222 out
of a possible 226, in 1936. Cobb is widely credited with setting 90
Major League Baseball records during his career.
