LEGENDARY COACH BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1913

                    Vincent Thomas "Vince" Lombardi
  

                   (June 11, 1913 – September 3, 1970)

Vince Lombardi was a football coach best remembered as the head
coach of the Green Bay Packers during the 1960s, where he led the
team to three straight league championships and five in seven years,
including winning the first two Super Bowls following the 1966 and
1967 NFL seasons. The National Football League‘s Super Bowl
trophy is named in his honor. He was enshrined in the NFL’s Pro
Football Hall of Fame in 1971.

Jeannette Pickering Rankin
(June 11, 1880 – May 18, 1973)

Jeannette Rankin is widely known as the first woman elected to
Congress. A Republican, she was elected statewide in Montana
in 1916 and again in 1940. she was the only lawmaker to vote
against U.S. entry into both world wars.
