WESTERN ACTOR TURNED 79 TODAY
Actor James Child Drury, Jr. is best known for his playing the title
role in the weekly Western television series The Virginian on NBC
from 1962 to 1971.

“Summertime Blues” was released in August 1958 and peaked at number 8
on the Billboard Hot 100 on September 29, 1958. The hand clapping on the recording was reportedly done by Cochran’s fiancé, songwriter Sharon
Sheeley and Eddie.

Ray Edward ‘Eddie’ Cochran (October 3, 1938–April 17, 1960)
Eddie Cochran’s brief career, had a lasting influence on rock music with
rockabilly songs such as "C’mon Everybody", "Somethin’ Else", and
"Summertime Blues", He died in an automobile accident while on his
British tour.
