SINGLE RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1966
"Last Train to Clarksville" is the debut single by The Monkees. It
was recorded at RCA Victor Studio B in Hollywood, on July 25,
1966. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 on November 5.
A KODAK MOMENT IN 1960 ~
Frank Sinatra with then-U.S. Senator John F. Kennedy outside of The
Sands hotel in Las Vegas, Feb. 1960. Kennedy had been staying there
during a campaign tour.
BUDDY WAS MARRIED ON THIS DAY IN 1958
Buddy and his bride Maria Elena
Buddy Holly was married to 25-year-old Maria Elena Santiago, a woman he had
met only two months earlier when she was a receptionist for a New York music
publisher. The wedding took place at the home of Buddy’s parents in Lubbock,
Texas.
