RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1956
Elvis Presley’s “Heartbreak Hotel” was his first recording for his new
label RCA Victor. The single topped Billboard ‘s Top 100 chart for
seven weeks. In 1995 the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall
of Fame, and in 2004 Rolling Stone magazine named it one of the
"500 Greatest Songs of All Time". That year “Heartbreak Hotel” was
also included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame‘s "500 Songs that
Shaped Rock and Roll".
"Heartbreak Hotel" recording session on January 10, 1956,
two days after Elvis turned 21.

Donna Reed (born Donna Belle Mullenger in Denison, Iowa)
(January 27, 1921 – January 14, 1986)
Actress Donna Reed appeared in From Here to Eternity (1953) and
received widespread recognition for her role as Mary Bailey in Frank
Capra’s It’s a Wonderful Life (1946). She was also in The Donna
Reed Show on ABC-TV (1958-1966).
