ICONIC ACTOR BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1927



Robert James "Bob" Keeshan
(June 27, 1927 – January 23, 2004)

Producer/actor Keeshan is most notable as the title character of the CBS
television children’s program Captain Kangaroo, which became an icon for
millions of people during its 30-year run from 1955 to 1984. He also played
the original "Clarabell the Clown", one of three, on the NBC Howdy Doody
television program (1947- 1960).

Thursday was Bing’s day from 1937 to 1946 on “The Kraft  Music Hall”.

The Kraft Music Hall was a popular variety program, featuring top show
business entertainers and orchestra leader Paul Whiteman. It aired on 
NBC radio until 1958. Ford Bond was the announcer. The show was one
hour in length until cut to a half hour in January 1943.

PATRICK MACNEE DIES AT 93

Daniel Patrick Macnee (February 6, 1922 – June 25, 2015)  

(AP) – Patrick Macnee, the British-born actor best known as
dapper secret agent John Steed in the long-running 1960s
TV series "The Avengers," has died. He was 93.

According to a statement from his son Rupert,Macnee died
Thursday of natural causes with his family at his bedside in
Rancho Mirage.
