RECORD RECORDED ON THIS DAY IN 1935

"King Porter Stomp" is called one of the greatest compositions of the 20th
century and is considered to be important in the development of jazz. There
are many recorded versions, but this one by Benny Goodman and his
Orchestra is the most popular and influential. It was recorded in New York
for the Victor label. The song was written by pianist and composer Jelly
Roll Morton around 1905.
