SONG RECORDED ON THIS DAY IN 1942

One of the best-known versions of the song “Why Don’t You Do Right” was
recorded by Peggy Lee with Benny Goodman and his orchestra in New York. It
was featured in the 1943 film, Stage Door Canteen, it sold over 1 million copies
and brought her to nationwide attention.

The song "Magic Bus" was written by Pete Townshend during the time that
My Generation was being recorded in 1965. It has become one of the band’s
most popular songs and has been a concert staple, although when released,
the record only reached number 25 in the U.S.
