Jane Parker Fruitcake has been a holiday tradition since
the late 1930’s.

The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, better known
as A&P, was an American chain of grocery stores that
operated from 1859 to 2015. From 1915 through 1975,
A&P was the largest grocery retailer in the United States
(and, until 1965, the largest U.S. retailer of any kind)

Robert Emmett McGrath (June 13, 1932 – December 4, 2022)

Bob McGrath, Sesame Street actor, singer, musician and
children’s author, died Sunday. He was 90 years old.

His family confirmed the news on Facebook writing, “Hello
Facebook friends. The McGrath family has some sad news
to share. Our father Bob McGrath, passed away today. He
died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.”

Illinois achieved full statehood on this day. Though Illinois
presented unique challenges to immigrants unaccustomed
to the soil and vegetation of the area, it grew to become a
bustling and densely populated state.

John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne is an English singer,
songwriter, and television personality. He rose to fame
during the 1970s as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal
band Black Sabbath, during which period he adopted the
nickname "Prince of Darkness".  He is 74 years old today.
