Taurean Blacque
(born Herbert Middleton Jr.; May 10, 1940 – July 21, 2022) 


Taurean Blacque, who portrayed the streetwise Det. Neal
Washington on all seven seasons of the acclaimed NBC
cop show Hill Street Blues. His family announced he died
Thursday in Atlanta following a brief illness.

From 1989-90, Blacque played Henry Marshall opposite
Vivica A. Fox and others as an original castmember on
the NBC daytime soap opera Generations.

Blacque was a Christian and his faith influenced his desire
to be involved with adoption. In 1989, he was asked by
President George H. W. Bush to serve as a national
spokesman for adoption.

Mickey Rooney Jr. (July 3, 1945 – July 16, 2022)


Rooney was an actor and the eldest son of the actor
Mickey Rooney.

He operated the Rooney Entertainment Group, a film and television production company. Mickey Rooney Jr. was a born-again Christian
who had an evangelical ministry in
Hemet, California.

After appearing as a "Mouseketeer" in the Mickey Mouse Club in
1955 along with his brother Tim, he played his first film role in 1967
in Hot Rods to Hell
.

ACTION FILM DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1988

On July 15, 1988, Die Hard, an action film starring Bruce Willis as wisecracking New York City cop John McClane, opened in theaters
across the U.S.  A huge box-office hit, the film established Willis
as a movie star and spawned three sequels. Die Hard also became Hollywood shorthand for describing the plot of other actions films,
as in “Speed is Die Hard on a bus.”

Walter Bruce Willis turned 67 in March.

On March 30, 2022, Willis’s family announced that
he was retiring as he had been diagnosed with
aphasia, a disorder caused by damage to the area
of the brain that controls language expression and
comprehension.
