Ronald Wilson Reagan (February 6, 1911 – June 5, 2004)
Reagan died of pneumonia, complicated by Alzheimer’s
disease,[at his home in the Bel Air district of Los Angeles,
California, on the afternoon of June 5, 2004. A short time
after his death, Nancy Reagan released a statement saying,
"My family and I would like the world to know that President
Ronald Reagan has died after 10 years of Alzheimer’s
disease at 93 years of age. We appreciate everyone’s
prayers."
Musician and actor Sting (Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner) is 68 years
old today. He was the principal songwriter, lead singer, and bassist for
the new wave rock band the Police from 1977 to 1984, and launched a
solo career in 1985. He has included elements of rock, jazz, reggae,
classical, new-age and worldbeat in his music.
Around 12:15 a.m. PDT on June 5, 1968, Sirhan Sirhan fired a .22
caliber Iver-Johnson Cadet revolver at Senator Robert Kennedy
and the crowd surrounding him in the Ambassador Hotel in Los
Angeles shortly after Kennedy had finished addressing supporters
in the hotel’s main ballroom (above).
