Lenard is best remembered for his portrayal as Spock’s father Sarek in
Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: The Animated Series and
later in Star Trek: The Next Generation. He also appeared in three Star
Trek feature films in 1984, 1986, and in 1991. Lenard played roles outside
the Star Trek series such as the prosecutor in Clint Eastwood’s 1968 film,
Hang ‘Em High.

GUMBY CREATOR BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1921

Arthur "Art" Clokey (October 12, 1921 – January 8, 2010)

Art Clokey was a pioneer of stop motion clay animation. While studying film at the University of Southern California, he made a clay animation experimental film in
1955 called Gumbasia. As a result of this project, Clokey and his wife Ruth soon 
created the clay character Gumby.

IMAGINARY BATTLES BEGAN ON THIS DAY IN 1965

The Peanuts comic strip character Snoopy is famous for his alter-egos, one of which 
is the imaginary battles with World War l Flying Ace “The Red Baron”. The fantasy’s
first appeared in the strip on Sunday October 10, 1965 (above).

Friday September 30, 1960 and ran till April 1, 1966, on the ABC network. It was
produced by Hanna-Barbera and celebrated its 50th anniversary last year.

ANIMATED BEATLES ON THIS DAY IN 1965

The Beatles is a animated television series featuring the adventures of the
popular rock band of the same name. It ran on ABC from Saturday September
25, 1965 and ended on September 7, 1969 for a total of 39 episodes. The
series was a historical milestone as the first weekly television series to
feature animated versions of real, living people.
