The U.S. Post Office offered a special 10-cent postage stamp for sale. It
depicted Charles Lindbergh’s "Spirit of St. Louis." The first of 15 million
U.S. air mail stamps went on sale in St. Louis, Detroit, Washington and Lindbergh’s boyhood hometown of Little Falls, Minnesota.

Sir James Paul McCartney is 73 years old today.
"Silly Love Songs" was written by Paul McCartney and performed by
Wings. The song appears on the 1976 album Wings at the Speed of
Sound.
Charles Lindbergh (left) was honored with a ticker-tape parade in
New York City following his historic solo transatlantic flight.
Following the attack on Pearl Harbor in December of 1941,
Bush decided to join the US. Navy. He became the youngest
naval aviator at that time.
